Mealwagon Records is a NYC-based record label which started up in 2007 with the immediate goal of releasing The Hoarsemen's debut album. However, the label's roots run much deeper, back to the NJ local hip-hop scene of the mid-90's, when the label's founders ran a popular hip-hop showcase & open mic series called "Makin' Moves." The event brought out local hip-hop artists like John Robinson (Lil Sci), K Banger, Skit Slam, Kosha Dillz, Cymarshall Law, and the Rock With Finesse (RWF) B-Boys, as well as touring acts like Orko Eloheim and Percee P.

With over 20 years of combined experience as radio DJs on WRSU-FM, New Brunswick and NYC's East Village Radio under their belts, the founders have also played host to a range of hip-hop luminaries including Pharoahe Monch, Sadat X of Brand Nubian, DJ Jaguar Skills from the BBC UK's Trevor Nelson radio show, Wordsworth from MTV's Lyricist Lounge Show, Tragedy Khadafi, Pace Won of the Outsidaz, El da Sensei, Breez Evahflowin', Ayatollah, and Mr. Len of Company Flow.

The label's goals are to release works by The Hoarsemen and related artists such as Constant NK, to run and support events for hip-hop heads and music lovers of all kinds, and to make moves.
